1. Guide rail and bearing

Rails and bearings at all shafts should be kept clean and well-lubricated. If the manipulator is operating in a dusty environment, it is necessary to clean the guide rail frequently. If you find any metal shards or powder, it may indicate poor lubrication. In order to ensure proper lubrication, having the right linear guide system is critical, and most manipulators have automated lubrication systems and components that need to be replaced regularly.

2, the robot cycle

One of the main points of keeping a robot in good operation is simply observing and listening, which can reveal a lot of information about the overall operation of the robot. The manipulator works through specific movements, so it listens for any abnormal sounds, such as whistling, clicking, etc., which indicate that the bearing is not rotating properly or that some other component is stuck. The manipulator link part moves along the guide rail equipped with power cables and vacuum hoses, and makes a normal ticking sound, but this sound is smooth and stable. Check any bearings that can be observed to make sure they rotate smoothly. Just checking and listening for some signs of wear or adjustment can greatly help to keep the robot in optimal operation.

3. Drive system

If the manipulator is driven by a frame-drive gear, pay attention to whether any hesitations or wobbles occur during operation. All movements other than smooth and smooth movements can indicate damage to the drive system or the presence of some foreign object inside. When the manipulator pushes down the motion, the way to quickly check the motion or backlash between the assembly beam and the transmission gear is to push and drag the motion arm, and the paresthesia motion (the back and forth motion is different).

However, due to the high accuracy of normal factory tolerances, this test method will be very inaccurate. If you suspect that there may be a problem with the assembly beam and transmission gear, the better method is to use a magnetic watch base with a long range. After adjusting the backlash according to the manufacturer's instructions, check the full travel of the shaft to ensure that there is no too tight place between the assembly beam and the transmission gear. If the backlash cannot be adjusted, the assembly frame and transmission gear may be worn and need to be replaced. If the assembly frame and transmission gear must be repaired, it is best to replace both components to ensure long-term performance.


As for the shaft driven by the conveyor belt, pay close attention to the debris falling from the wear of the conveyor belt and the damage itself. Check the pulley carefully and watch for signs of dust originating from conveyor belt material. Ensure that the conveyor belt and drive pulley and groove wheel are fully aligned. A deviated conveyor belt will wear out very quickly. As long as it is a conveyor belt driven system, the preload of the conveyor belt itself can be checked according to the manufacturer's instructions. These specifications will tell you the appropriate amount of error in the specific position of the conveyor belt relative to the pulley.

4. Pneumatic system

Including multi-axial servo drive, as long as there is a wrist-turning and vacuum grab action, almost all manipulators will have a pneumatic function. Pay close attention to the suction cups of the filter regulator unit, where the accumulation of water indicates that the compressed air source passing through the system is too humid. The presence of a small amount of moisture can be transmitted to the pneumatic valve and actuator, causing oxidation and internal contamination that may eventually lead to the regulator sticking or the actuator's intermittent sticking or failure.

If the suction cup is equipped with an automatic dehumidification system, contamination or discoloration on the suction cup may also indicate an increase in moisture before removal. If water collects in the sucker, even for a short time, it can enter the system and cause the above problems. If you notice any physical damage to the hose, there may be a leak in the system.

If the air pressure loop is filled with air at normal operating pressure and there is a leak somewhere in the loop, it should be easier for you to spot a noticeable sizzle that can help you pinpoint the location of the leak.

5, check the molding equipment

Standard manipulators are usually mounted on the formwork of the molding equipment. When the equipment is running fast, vibration from the molding equipment may be transmitted to the mechanical hand and can cause damage. Simply observe the operation of the molding equipment, ensure that the mold movement is adjusted to a reasonable state, reduce the number of shaking or vibration, can extend the life of the manipulator. In the case of high-speed operation, the vibration frequency may be very high, it is best to install the manipulator on the support structure independent of the molding equipment.

6, pay attention to wiring wear

When inspecting the surface of the manipulator, if black particles or powder are found, it indicates that the circuit wiring of the manipulator has signs of wear. However, even if you do not find these wear signals, look carefully at all power, transformer or encoder cables, both inside and outside the wiring path, because during the production cycle, the wiring of the continuous friction manipulator, or the wiring attached to the cable guide, will eventually wear out and fail. Ensure the safety of cable ties and proper installation of cables.

7. Check lubrication

Manipulators use spring-loaded lubrication rods, which only need to be replaced once a year unless there is evidence of inadequate rail lubrication. Equipped with automatic lubrication system, continuous lubrication can be carried out along the movement of the manipulator. However, if there are some surfaces on which the manipulator does not move normally, these areas are lubricated either manually or by periodic program-controlled actions to achieve automatic system lubrication. If you find rust, corrosion or wear on any sports surfaces, or if they are simply too dry, they are not lubricated enough. Always refer to the manipulator manual for proper lubrication of metal parts. Assembly beam - The conventional gear system is lubricated automatically via a lubricating oil storage unit, but needs to be replaced annually.

8, vacuum gripper circuit

The vacuum should be formed nearly instantaneously, and the appropriate controller input should be equivalent to the grasping product. If you turn on the vacuum, followed by the input light source, the delay time is more than 2 seconds, then it indicates that there is a vacuum line leak, defect, or improper adjustment of the switching device. Testing is easy with the main control panel attached.

If the robot is equipped with a digital vacuum switching unit, the minimum threshold of vacuum required to grab the product can be quickly and automatically fine-tuned.
